My inspiration comes from the elements of nature, water, wind, plants, and trees. When life is stressful, the natural world allows me to express my inner state of mind and achieve balance in my art.

Artist Statement

Beautiful color combinations in nature capture my attention and bring joy to my soul. I live with my husband and 2 year old Labrador, Stella, in a 1927 stone house surrounded by expansive gardens featuring deep red roses, bright white daisies and lush green hostas. As an artist I feel so lucky to wake up everyday to the sunrise spreading across the yard of stately trees and plant life. A stroll around the gardens always brings surprising new growth and a glimpse of the birds and butterflies exploring their beautiful environment.

My studio is inside the original carriage house just steps away from the garden. I paint abstractly to share my emotional reaction to the natural beauty around me. Sometimes I am inspired to paint solely from feelings that come from within.

This intuitive process of layering my abstract paintings is a dance between the design elements of color, line, and shape. Every layer informs and gives direction to the next layer. When my work finds a balance with enough broad areas and tiny interesting details, I know my process is complete.
